Day 1 Liberty Train Ride - Hacienda Zuleta
Your guide will pick you up at your hotel in Quito in a private transportation for the trip to Ibarra. The guide will point out sites of interest along the way, and once in Ibarra he will take you through the modern train station and onto the train. The train trip from Ibarra to Salinas takes about an hour and a half. Your guide and the transportation will meet you there. In Salinas, you will enjoy the local dancers and take a quick tour of the small town.

After lunch, you'll go to Hacienda Zuleta, a famous Ecuadorian hacienda converted into a first-class hotel. First built in 1691, Hacienda Zuleta was at one time a country home for a former President of Ecuador, Galo Plaza Lasso. In addition to being a first-class hotel, the hacienda is still a working farm, with cattle, horses and more. Your afternoon will be spent there, touring the hacienda and relaxing in the gardens.
Day 2 Hacienda Zuleta - Quito
Your day begins before breakfast if you wish, with early morning activities such as birdwatching available from Hacienda Zuleta. After a traditional hacienda breakfast, there are a variety of activities to choose from, including taking a local cooking class or learning how to use traditional weaving tools. After a tasty lunch, you will have the chance to visit a small shop selling locally made handicrafts before returning to Quito.
